Over 70 persons booked for disrupting traffic near NIT office

Sadar police have booked over 70 persons on the charges of storming NIT office illegally and also disrupting vehicular traffic by squatting and sleeping on the road during their protest agitation. Activists of Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan staged demonstration against proposed Metropolitan Region plan of Nagpur district prepared by Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).

Hundreds of activists staged demonstration at NIT. They were opposing proposed reservation of dumping yard on 250 acres of land in Borgaon, Tondakheri, Billori and Sillori villages. During the protest, the Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan members disrupted the vehicular traffic by squatting and sleeping on the road opposite NIT and thus violated the terms and conditions of permission for the agitation.

Sadar PSI Varpade has registered a case under Sections 143, 341, 188, of IPC read with Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act against Arun Pandurang Bankar, Prashant Prabhakarrao Pawar, Khemraj Sheshrao Pande, Govind Nanaji Bujade and 70 other activists of the organization.
