As the winter session of state assembly entered its new week on Monday, Opposition MLAs created quite uproar over the issue of Mumbai, demanding to bring the issue for discussion. The chaos led the speaker to suspend the proceedings for 15 minutes. Later at 12.30 pm when the proceedings began, the Opposition legislators from Congress and NCP were in no mood to relent. This annoyed speaker who furiously shouted at the agitating members saying, “Mumbai kahin nahin jayegi..wo tumhari hi rahegi (Mumbai will not go anywhere….It will be all your’s).”

Meanwhile the MLAs from Vidarbha though adhered to speaker but they also called for bringing up Vidarbha issue for discussion.

The speaker directed Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar to ask all the shouting MLAs to take their respective seats, if they want some discussion. The sloganeering still continued. Interestingly, Ajit Pawar, Bala Saheb Thorat and Patangrao Kadam were seen sitting at their places all through the chaos.

When Wadettiwar was allowed to speak, he underlined the significance of Jitendra Awhad’s proposal to undertake discussion on the issue of Mumbai. But when the Speaker did not heed to him all the Opposition MLAs barring Kadam walked out of the house, only to return back after 5 minutes.

It may be mentioned that the MLAs wanted to discuss Mumbai owing to the CM’s statement to accord special status to the metro city.
