Nagpur: A missing man was ‘mysteriously’ charred to death when the car he was travelling caught fire on Outer Ring Road in Nandanvan Police Station jurisdiction on Wednesday. Though the identity of deceased is yet to be established, police suspect him to be Gopal Jadhav, a resident of Wathoda, who was reported missing since Tuesday night. Jadhav left home on Tuesday night and did not return. Subsequently, family members had lodged a missing report.

On Wednesday, Nandanvan police received information about a burning car on Outer Ring Road. Fire Brigade was also alerted. A fire tender was pressed into service and the fire was doused soon. Cops noticed a person leaned on steering wheel. Eye-witnesses told the cops that the car (MH-30/F- 1151) was going towards Jabalpur direction and suddenly caught fire and dashed against roadside soil heap. The person in the car was charred to death. Police are waiting for DNA report to establish identity of the deceased. Police are investigating the case from all angles.

At present, a case of accidental death has been registered by Nandanvan cops and further probe is underway.
