Nagpur: Dr Puran Meshram has been selected as registrar of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). Unlike the selection of controller of exam (CoE) that was marred by internal politics, all differences were set aside this time for choosing registrar.

Dr Meshram was selected unanimously on the basis of merit. He is presently working as finance and accounts officer in the university. He will assume his new charge from next Monday.

There was clash of opinions between members of selection committee during selection of CoE on Thursday due to internal politics of university. It was being speculated that similar situation would prevail during the selection of registrar on Friday. But selection was done on the basis of presentation given by the candidates and their vision.

In all, 13 candidates were summoned for interview for the post of registrar which is considered important in Nagpur University. However, only 12 candidates gave the interview. Each candidate gave a power-point presentation before the selection committee and later, interviews were taken.

The selection committee shortlisted two best candidates on the basis of the interviews. They were Dr Meshram and professor in the university”s physics department Dr Shyamsundar Bhoga. Chairman of selection committee and vice-chancellor RTMNU Dr Siddharth Vinayak Kane sought opinions of all members of the committee. All of them gave their consent for Dr Meshram and thus, he was selected unanimously.
