‘Angry’ young man kills father over petty domestic issue, arrested

Nagpur: An “angry” and ‘drunkard’ young man murdered his aged father after a tiff over a trivial domestic issue in Shriramnagar locality of MIDC on Thursday night. The accused even tried to kill his mother when she tried to intervene in the matter. He has been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Thamaji Gayali (70). The deceased was staying with wife Laxmi, son Umesh, daughter-in-law Nanda and grandsons Adesh and Durgesh. A brawl erupted between Thamaji and Umesh on Thursday night over an issue. The wordy duel took an ugly turn when Umesh, under the influence of liquor, delivered blows on his father with a wooden stick and killed him on the spot. The accused also tried to harm his mother fatally when she tried to intervene in the brawl. Initial probe by police revealed the accused was a ‘short tempered’ person and a drunkard. After the incident, Umesh, along with his two sons, fled to nearby Wagdhara jungles. However, cops succeeded in arresting him.

MIDC PI Mahadik has booked the accused Umesh Gayali on the charges of murder and attempt to murder and probing the case further.
