Yuva-spandan kickstart the sports & cultural fervor in Nagpur varsity Campus

To bring forth the dynamism of the youth, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur university,P.G.T.D Department popularly known as Campus has organized annual fest ‘Yuva-Spandan’-2013 at its campus premises. From past four years ‘Yuva-spandan’ is encouraging the youths to participate in sports and cultural activities.

“All through the year students of the 36 departments of various streams of the campus are busy involved in their studies. This is the time of the year when these students come out of their closet and get to display their other hidden talents and qualities,” said two time Mr.Campus, Devesh Gondane while speaking to ‘NagpurToday’.

Yuva-Spandan was inaugurated on Feb- 7th.  The 5 day fest will see sports events starting from 7th to 11th Feb consisting Badminton, cricket, tug of war, Shot Put and chess, besides other sports also.

Cultural events will follow from 12th  to 13th of Feb. wherein students will showcase their talent in dancing competition, singing competition, Debate Competition and Dramatics at Gurunanak Bhavan. The Finale on 13th will see the Fashion show and the most popular Miss & Mr Campus taking place informed the Student Council, Secretary, Santosh Sonone.

Talking to ‘Nagpur Today’ the Girls team of Department of Zoology, who are the future scientists and lecturers said “we had a great time participating in the ‘Tug of War’ playing sports enhances our  fitness.  we feel energetic and refreshed. During, Yuva- Spandan we also get to interact and make friends with other Department students.

Students of History and sociology Department also shared their enthusiasm with ‘Nagpur Today’ and said “sports teaches strategy which we can apply on professional front, too.

‘Mass communication and Journalism’ students who are always busy in their projects and field work had a gala time in the sports events as the Girls team of the department performed much better than their male counterparts in the ‘Tug of war’ and ‘Shot Put’ events. The budding journalists are sure to give tough competition to other departments in the upcoming events.

‘Yuva-Spandan’ removes the myth that (except selected) youth, today don’t take part in sports. Infact, ‘Nagpur Today’ saw all the students actively taking part in one or other events and celebrating the fervor of sports.
