Adding to the alarming crime situation in Nagpur, yet another youth was brutally murdered on Monday night in Tandapeth area of Panchpaoli. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Khapekar, 34, who was reportedly killed at around 9.40 pm on Monday. All the accused fled the spot after the incident. The accused have been identified as Radheshyam alias Radhe Shivdas Khobragade,resident of Gaddigodam, Shubham alias Bhurya Vinayak Bonekar, a minor and an another man.
Panchpaoli police informed that Khapekar was brutally murdered with sharp edged weapons. Blood spots were found scattered at the crime scene. Meanwhile the body was sent to Mayo Hospital for postmortem.
Police sources said that Khapekar was sitting at Bapu Basod Chowk on Naik Talaab road when Radhe, Shubham and few other friends atttacked him with sharp edged weapons. Khapekar was rendered seriously injured and he died on the spot.
It is learnt that Khapekar had previously tried to interfere in a matter of extortion bid by the accused. Police suspect the murder as the fallout of the similar incident. Panchpaoli police have registered the case against all the accused upon the complaint received from Sanjay’s brother Dilip.
Meanwhile police have launched a manhunt for the absconding accused.
