Youth, juvenile boy arrested in Rs 6 lakh burglary in Yashodhara Nagar

Nagpur: Acting on secret inputs, Yashodhara police have arrested a youth and detained a juvenile delinquent for their involvement in Rs 6 lakh burglary at the residence of a vegetable vendor in Indira Gandhi Nagar. Police have recovered Rs 1.80 lakh of the stolen money.

The arrested accused has been identified as Dheeraj Dharmapal Khandare (20), resident of Plot No 545, Binaki Layout, Dhammadeep Nagar. A 17-year-old boy residing at Kawrapeth has also been taken into custody.

Sarita Kanchan Ramteke (45), resident of Indira Gandhi Nagar, near Meshram Flour Mill, Yashodhara Nagar, had lodged complaint with police that she along with her husband had gone to Takalghat between 10 am and 4 pm on Sunday for attending a religious programme. Her four daughters had also gone to Takalghat after locking house. In the meantime, the accused burglars gained entry into their house by breaking open lock of main door and decamped with Rs 6 lakh cash kept in a steel almirah. The cash was meant for marriage of one of Sarita’s daughters and registry of plot. The cash also included collection of chit (bhisi) fund The theft came to notice of Sarita and her husband when they returned home.

On Tuesday, May 8, Yashodhara Nagar police received information about involvement of accused Dheeraj Khandare and the juvenile delinquent in the Rs 6 lakh burglary at Sarita’s residence. The accused were arrested by Senior PI P Y Meshram, PI (Crime) HLUrlagodawar, PSI J S Thakur and others under the supervision of DCP Nilesh Bharne and ACP (Jaripatka Division) Ramesh Taywade.
