Nagpur: A violent episode stemming from a long-standing dispute has left a 19-year-old youth injured after he was assaulted and his house vandalised in the Yashodhara Nagar police station limits.
The injured has been identified as Tushar Nishad, a resident of Vandevi Nagar. According to police, the attack is linked to a two-year-old conflict involving the victim’s pet dog and a local resident, Hussain Qureshi. It is alleged that Hussain had earlier beaten the dog with a stick, sparking tensions between the two families that never fully subsided.
The latest incident occurred on the night of April 26. Police said Tushar was heading out on his motorcycle to buy paneer when Hussain allegedly hurled abuses at him. Tushar ignored the provocation and returned home, but the situation escalated shortly thereafter.
Later, while Tushar was standing near a ground close to his residence, Hussain again confronted him and allegedly attacked him with a belt, causing injuries. Though locals intervened and temporarily defused the situation, the violence took a more serious turn soon after.
In a retaliatory move, Hussain reportedly returned with his brother Saleh Qureshi and another associate Zuber Qureshi, storming into Tushar’s house. The trio allegedly ransacked the premises and launched a brutal assault, leaving the youth seriously injured.
Following the incident, Yashodhara Nagar Police acted swiftly and arrested all three accused. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the full sequence of events and any additional involvement.
The incident highlights how old personal disputes, if left unresolved, can spiral into serious acts of violence, endangering lives and disturbing public peace.
