Young man cheated of Rs 82,000 with car prize trick

Nagpur: Two gullible men were cheated to the tune of Rs 1.52 lakh by two tricksters in separate incidents in Yashodhara Nagar and Ajni areas.

In the first incident, a resident of Plot No. 149 D, Yogi Nagar, Mohd Irfan Qureshi (28), told police that he received a message on cell phone from shopclose.com between September 1 and 3, 2017. The message informed Mohd Irfan he has won prize of Swift DeZire car. Thereafter, a man called Mohd Irfan from mobile phone 7366027520 and told him to deposit Rs 6000 in the SBI account of Ajay Poddar for claiming the car prize. A few days later, Sheikh Irfan received phone calls and the caller asked him to deposit Rs 30,000 and Rs 45,600 in the account. This way, he deposited total Rs 81,600 in the hope of having the Swift DeZire car as a prize. But soon he realised that he had been to taken to ride and duped.

Yashodhara Nagar police constable Sanjay has registered a case under Section 420 and searching for the trickster.

Similarly, Banwari Ramnaresh Prasad (68), resident of Plot No. 413, Sparsh Apartment, Hanuman Nagar, received a phone call around 11.30 am on Saturday and the caller identified himself as SBI Branch Manager. Later, the bogus SBI Manager slyly procured details of ATM card and OTP and withdrew Rs 69,999 from two accounts of Banwari Prasad.

Ajni API Gawande has booked the bogus SBI Manager under Sections 420, 419 of the IPC and probing the matter further.
