Young boy sent to 12-year jail for raping a minor girl

Nagpur: A young rapist, who made a 13-year old girl his victim, was sentenced to 12-year imprisonment and fined Rs 6000 as well by a District Judicial Magistrate’s Court here on Monday.

According to details, the accused Sameer alias Chattan alias Golu alias Amol Mangal Dongre of Dhantoli area used to torment the 13-year old girl of the same area during her school and tuition timings since July 2013. The accused Sameer used to show his love for the girl but she often cold shouldered his ‘lewd gestures.’ However, on 3.12.2013, when the girl was returning home walking after the school hours around 11.30 am, the accused Sameer accosted her. He whipped out a knife and forced the girl to sit on his motorcycle. Later, the accused Sameer Dongre took the girl to a secluded place in Shivangaon jungles and raped her. He even threatened to kill the girl’s father and brother if she dared to open her mouth.

However, the girl and her parents approached Dhantoli Police Station on 11.3.2014 and lodged a complaint narrating the entire episode to police. Acting on the complaint, cops booked the accused Sameer Dongre under Sections 366 (A), 341, 354, 376(2)(I)(L), 506(B) of IPC read with Sub-Sections 4, 5(G), 6, 8, 9(G)(L) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and placed him under arrest.
After arresting Sameer Dongre, the Dhantoli police led by Lady PSI Chitra Mesre and comprising Police Constable Prakash Thakre, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector, investigated the case and collected an unflinching evidence of the crime. On 7.6.2014, a chargsheet was filed in the court of District Judicial Magistrate-1 A G Rathi. Government Pleader Khobragade represented the State.

The court found the accused Sameer alias Chattan alias Golu alias Amol Mangal Dongre guilty under Sections 354, 376 of IPC (rape) and sentenced him to 10-year jail and imposed a fine of Rs 5000. The Magistrate also awarded 2-year jail and slapped a fine of Rs 1000 holding the accused guilty under Sections 7, 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
