YMFC emerge elite division champ

football-nagpurNagpur: Celebrating its 100 years, Young Muslim Football Club (YMFC) shocked defending champions Nagpur Football Club (NFC) 2-0 to win Meghe Elite Division Football Tournament that was organised by Nagpur District Football Association at SECR’s Motibagh Stadium on Sunday.

The final encounter was witnessed by hundreds of spectators. The supporters of both the teams from Mominpura and Kamptee reached the stadium in large number and ultimately when the referee blew the long whistle it was YMFC fans who bursted into jubilation. YMFC were leading by 1-0 in the first half. Shahbaz Pathan put them in the leading position in in the 41st minute.

In the second half, YMFC maintained the pressure on the opponents. NFC too made some good moves but the YMFC defenders were equal to the task. In the 74th minute, NFC’s Loukik Jadhv created a blunder by scoring self goal. Then NFC never recovered from the shock and ultimately faced the defeat. The match referee had a tough task on the field. He cautioned Sagar Chintale, Javed Akhter, Muzammil Khan and Bleson Saji of YMFC for rough play. Fuzail Pasha of NFC was also cautioned in the dying minute.

WIFA and NDFA vice-president Sameer Meghe, WIFA secretary Saulter Waz, CEO Henry Mebezesm, MLA Dr Milind Mane and Dada Mitra distributed the prizes. NDFA president Harish Vora along with other officials Salim Baig , Pradeep Nagarkar, Eugen Norbert, Sunil Kochar, Iqbal Kashmiri, Bernard D’suza, Abdul Latif, Mohd. Mubeen, Javed Rana, Satyanarayan Jirput, Stanley Gregory, Biswajeet Day were also present on the occasion. The winning team walked away with Rs one lakh while the runner s-up NFC got 51,000.
