Every aged person in our society has a right to live with dignity, privacy, independence and self-determination. But when their own off-springs find them to be a burden and leave them at Home for Aged, part of them dies. Most of the principles for which they lived and strived for gets demolished. The students of Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) wanted to reach out to such neglected and aged senior citizens of our society. They wanted to tell them that there are some who do care about them.

As part of the social responsibility, the students of  Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department of YCCE, visited the Panchavati Vruddhashram at Dighori run by Matru Seva Sangh. While speaking on the occasion, Head of the Department, Dr P L Zade said that social responsibility should not be equated with charity. The ‘Aajis and ‘Aajobas’(Grannys and Grandpas)  don’t need mere display of sympathy, but real care, affection and intimacy. The students did their bit by organizing a mini-concert and games for the senior citizens.  They also planted saplings in the premises as a token of their visit. At the end of the day, the students were rewarded with blessings, gift-wrapped in the smiling, gleaming and glowing faces of the senior citizens.
