Yavatmal: Yavatmal district collector Rajesh Deshmukh today ordered closure of six state government accounts in the State Bank of India for the bank’s failure to meet the crop loan disbursal target.
“The SBI was given a crop loan disbursal target of Rs 571 crore, but they disbursed a meagre amount of Rs 51 crore so far despite continuous instructions and warning,” the collector said.
He said all the six accounts are now diverted to the Central Bank and Union Bank of India.”The crop loan is the right of the farmers and adequate provisions have been made in the annual budget of the country,” Deshmukh said.
As per the Deshmukh, district has been given a target of Rs 2078 crore loan disbursal against 43,280 eligible farmers for 2018.
However, so far, only Rs 377 crore has been distributed which only 10 per cent of the target.
