Woman ends life following dowry harassment, hubby, in-laws booked

Nagpur: A 24-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide under Sitabuldi police station after allegedly being harassed by her spouse and in-laws for dowry on March 3, this year.

Initially police have registered a case of accidental death however the probe revealed the case of abetting suicide over dowry.

Police sources said, deceased identified as Sonikumari Singh, resident of Bhave Building, Temple Bazar road in Sitabuldi was married accused Avinash Singh.
Soon after marriage accused Avinash started forcing deceased to get money from her parents. When she could not arranged money, her spouse along with two other members of the family who hails from Bihar started torturing her.
Failed to bear the constant harassment by her family, the girl hanged herself at her home on March 3.

Following the complaint of Manojkumar Mohan Singh, native of Bihar, Sitabuldi police have booked woman’s husband Avinash Singh and two other family members identified as Chandrashekar Ramachndra Singh and Sudhadevi Chandrashekar Singh both natives of Bihar under section 498, 304 (B) of IPC.
