Nagpur: At a time when the Nagpur Municipal Corporation is leaving no stones un-turned to eradicate Dengue and take steps to prevent the spread of Dengue, Malaria and other diseases, there is an area which is prominent and considered as one of the posh localities of the city where the residents are facing problems and grievances which have not been redressed in spite of umpteen complaints to the local municipal authorities.

According to Advocate Ashwin Nutan Betharia, who lives in a flat in the NIT Layout parallel to Amravati Road hit behind Bank of India, Ravinagar Branch. He has an office close-by too. He alleged that throughout the year, a gutter chamber situated hit opposite to Chate Coaching Classes overflows and gutter water flows out on the road/lane. Small children play on that road, many children come to attend coaching classes in Chate Coaching Classes. The residents while speaking to Nagpur Today complained that the area stinks and becomes unbearable during the monsoon season. Come every evening and mosquitoes galore on the over-flowing gutter water.

ravi-nagar-nagpurAdvocate Ashwin Betharia said that they have complained umpteen times to the Municipal Corporation authorities but to no avail. If there are many complaints, they send the suction machine and the machine just sucks some gutter water once every month.

When the residents complained to the Corporator of the area named Varsha Jain, she is reported to have said that a bigger pipe-line has to be laid. Citing paucity of funds, she defers getting the pipe-line repaired or cleaned. The residents claim that if the funds are not there, let them at least clean the pipe-line thoroughly and maintain the chambers so that the residents do not have to face the gutter water over-flow problems.
