Nagpur: The Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) for the upcoming session is slated to be held between January 30 and February 7. This all India exam held by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science.
The registrations for the same will begin in a week’s time i.e. on September 1. For GATE 2016, the entire process of filling up of application form, uploading of certificates/documents etc., will be online and the candidates should not send any hard copy of their application form/documents etc., to IISc or any of the IIT’s zonal GATE office.
The candidates willing to apply should have obtained either of the following degree/certificate:
B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm.
B. Arch.
B.Sc.(Research)/B.S.
M. Sc./M.A./MCA or equivalent
Int. M.E/M.Tech(Post-B.Sc.)
Int. M.E./ M.Tech or Dual Degree(after Diploma or 10+2)
Int. M.Sc/Int. B.S.-M.S.
Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch.)
What’s new in GATE 2016?
An online virtual calculator will be available to examinees at the time of examination. No physical calculator will be allowed. The online virtual calculator will be put on GATE 2016 website for practice before the examination.
A new paper Petroleum Engineering (PE) is introduced in GATE 2016. With this, the total number of papers is 23.
After completion of GATE 2016 examination, all answer keys will be made available for dispute within a short time. Every answer key can be challenged, in case of any discrepancy.

Last date for submission of online application through website: October 1
Last date for request for change in the choice of examination city via GOAPS login: November 20
Availability of admit card on the online application interface for printing: December 17
GATE 2016 online examination: January 30 to February 7
Forenoon: 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon
Afternoon: 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM
Announcement of results on the online application website: March 19
