Rajkumar Badole – State Social Justice Minister was also present during this meeting.

Tejinder Singh Renu apprised Chief Minister Fadnavis that although Regulation no. 13.6.2 – No Shopping Frontage Roads was deleted from Development Control Regulation of Nagpur in 2013, however an absolute illogical rider of commercial sanction on ground floor only with double parking for the same was replaced, due to which the situation remain the same and since then this rider is causing immense hurdles for development of the city as these 24 roads are actually logical for further development of the city & to fulfill its demand, due to its advantage of huge width.

Renu further submitted that due to this restriction, the commercial activities are being now pushed into residential areas with narrow roads and causing congestion, thereby inviting litigations. Moreover illegal construction is being promoted with loss of revenue to the state exchequer. NMC too has also twice requested to UD Department for allowing construction on these roads as per R2 Zone as applicable in rest of the city and the same may please be amended on topmost priority.

Renu also requested CM that State Government should come out with separate fire policy for old buildings in the State which are constructed and occupied before enactment of Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006 as new 100% requirements is impossible to be followed in old buildings which are now causing litigations and unfortunately promoting blackmailers by providing them required tools to achieve their ill intentions.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that necessary steps will be initiated on the suggestions submitted. He said, he believed that no shopping issue is already solved and was not aware of this rider, which will be discussed & studied by UDD and necessary steps will be initiated for no shopping roads clause as well as for separate fire policy for old buildings.

Also present in delegation were Pawan Chopra – Treasurer, Hemant Trivedi & Amarjeet Singh Chawla – Joint Secretaries from VTA and Deepak Khurana – secretary of NRHA.
