Nagpur News: A delegation of Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) led by its President J. P. Sharma felicitated Devendra Fadnavis by flower bouquet on his recent appointment as President – BJP Maharashtra.
During meeting Sharma said that issue of local body tax (LBT) requires reconsideration and requested Fadnavis to take this issue once again to the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan as LBT is double taxation on purchase and sale of goods, which is absolutely unjustified & unconstitutional.
Tejinder Singh Renu secretary of VTA said that both LBT and VAT are indirect tax and finally its burden falls on citizens, under such circumstances, instead of another tax format of LBT, it is highly recommended that VAT rate should be increased proportionately to feed local bodies and this cumbersome LBT should be withdrawn.
After patience hearing Devendra Fadnavis said that he had already spoken on LBT to Chief Minister, however CM is very adamant to take LBT back. However Fadnavis said that he shall once again take this issue to the CM and seek some solution.
Other present in VTA delegation were Pawan K. Chopra – Treasurer, Hemant Trivedi – Joint Secretary, executive body members Amarjeet Singh Chawla, Rajesh Kanoongo, Harish Trivedi and Yogendra Mohan Singh.
