VTA also extended a warm welcome to Kumar Ashirwad, IAS the newly appointed District Collector, expressing confidence that under his leadership, the district administration will continue to work efficiently towards strengthening democratic processes.
VTA stated that the SIR exercise is a crucial step towards ensuring transparency and accuracy in the electoral rolls. It will help in identifying and removing duplicate entries and deleting ineligible names, including those of illegal immigrants, thereby safeguarding the sanctity of voting rights. However, the Association has expressed concern that a large section of citizens remains unaware of this important drive. It emphasized that due to limited awareness, many eligible voters may miss the opportunity to verify their names in the voter list.
Shrawan Kumar Malu, President, Vidarbha Taxpayers Association, said, “The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a commendable initiative that will enhance the credibility of the electoral process. However, it is equally important that every eligible citizen gets an opportunity to participate; increasing its awareness will ensure that no genuine voter is left out.”
Tejinder Singh Renu, Secretary, Vidarbha Taxpayers Association, added, “While the administration has taken a strong step in cleaning the voter rolls, greater outreach is the need of the hour. We request the authorities to amplify awareness efforts so that citizens can exercise their voting rights without any hindrance.”
In this regard, VTA has urged the District Collector to undertake wider publicity through print media, electronic media, social platforms, and public outreach initiatives to ensure maximum public participation. VTA further reiterated its support to the administration in all efforts aimed at strengthening democratic values and ensuring fair electoral practices.
Kumar Ashirwad – District Collector appreciated the support and feedback; he said, awareness efforts will be intensified, and he urged Citizens to participate and verify their names in the electoral rolls.
