“Retina Society of Vidarbha” is hosting the 31st Annual Conference of “Vitreo-Retinal Society of India” at Nagpur from 2nd to 4th Dec. 2022 at “Suraburdi-Meadows”, Nagpur. Formal Inauguration was held at 6 p.m. at the hands of Chief Guest Retd. Justice of Supreme Court of India, Shri Viakas Sirpurkar in presence of Guest of Honour Dr. Lalit Verma, President of All India Ophthalmological Society, Dr N. S. Muralidhar, President VRSI, Dr. Manisha Agrawal, Secretary VRSI, alsol graced the occasion. Dr. Sulabha Deshpande, Orgnising Chair person VRSI 2022 Welcomed the audience . Dr. Prashant Bawankule, Org. Secretary proposed the vote of Thanks.

Dr. Muralidhar said advances in technology has made diagnosing early retinal changes as picture can be taken taken by technicians and relayed to specialist and artificial intelligence helps to interpret faster detecting early changes in retina and action intiated” Shri V S Sirpurkar praised the ophthalmologists as they help clear the vision and said today’s deliberation also must have cleared vision of the participants by removing confusion. He prasied organisers for bringing Nagpur on map of world by holding the event here.

Vitreo-Retinal Eye Specialty is a highly specialized branch. It is concerned with Diseases of Retina. Many diseases can affect Retina (an inner layer of Eye) and can lead to severe loss of vision, commonest example being Diabetes affecting Retina.

Due to advances in science and technology, many eye problems can be treated and can save sight to a large extent. To discuss, exchange ideas to have interaction and develop fellowship is the main aim of organizing this national conference. More than 800 delegates from India and International faculty are attending this conference at Nagpur.

After a day-long scientific activity, evening needed a good relaxation to freshen up mind for next day activity, hence a cultural event was organized under the aegis of South Central Zone, Cultural Centre, (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) on Friday 2nd Dec. 2022 at 7.00 PM “Suraburdi Meadows” 90 Artist from different parts of country like Punjab, Assam, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Karnataka & from Madhya Pradesh performed Folk Dances to depict our heritage. An artificial village was erected at the Lawns of “Suraburdi Medaows” where these artist presented performing arts(Cultural Ministry, Govt. of India) for their help to organize this event.Programme was compared by Mrs. Shweta Shelgaonkar.
