Internet sensation Mallika Dua forayed into a new territory when she signed up to be a mentor on the reality show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Zakir Khan and Hussain Dalal play the same role as her on the show, while Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is the super judge. After the three were ousted from the show, TGILC has now landed in another controversy as Akshay made a seemingly abusive remark at Mallika.

Mallika’s father, Vinod Dua, a prominent journalist has lashed out at Akshay on his Facebook account. “Mallika Ji aap bell bajao, mai aapko bajata hoon”. This is Akshay Kumar to his coworker Mallika Dua on the sets of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.”, he wrote as he shared a clip of the incident he was talking about. In another post, he further wrote, “I am going to screw this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co worker Mallika Dua that “aap bell bajao main aap ko bajata hun” at 5:26.This is his sense of humor and language. Star Plus..wake up..”.

The clip then went viral and many are sharing it. SheSays India, a Facebook page, shared the clip and wrote, “Male actors still get away with making sexually colored remarks like this one under the guise of ‘comedy’. This is unacceptable and can be deemed an offense under S. 354 A of the Indian Penal Code and The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. In light of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, we need to look closer to home and fight this pervasive culture. #MeToo”
