Nagpur: Veteran Marathi actor Alka Kubal and Director Virag Madhumalati dropped in Nagpur to catch up with their fans and promote their upcoming Marathi movie Dr Tatya Lahane, a biopic on Padma Shri Dr Tatyarao Lahane who has dedicated his life towards social service.
Tatyarao Lahane is a Dean of Grant Medical College and J. J. Hospital, Mumbai, and an ophthamologist who set a world record with more than 100,000 cataract surgeries. He was awarded Padma Shri award in 2008, the 4th highest civilian award in India.
While Alka Kubal is playing the mother of lead character Dr Lahane, Virag is helming the movie.
During their visit to Nagpur, both Alka and young director Virag who also happens to hail from Vidarbha interacted with Nagpur Today and shared some interesting yet heart warming anecdotes about the life of Dr Lahane.
Alka Kubal also revealed what inspired her to take up the role of Tatya’s mother.
Dr Tatya Lahane is the movie made for the social cause as the income earned from the movie would be used to build two charitable hospitals.
The film is releasing on 6th October 2017.
