Nagpur: In a temporary operational change, the Railways has decided to regulate the services of Train No. 12106/12105 Gondia–Nagpur–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Vidarbha Express between the Gondia-Nagpur section from May 3 to May 23.
During this 20-day period, the popular train will originate from and terminate at Ajni station, effectively suspending its run between Gondia and Nagpur. Railway officials confirmed the development but stated that a formal notification detailing the exact reasons is still awaited.
According to information available on the IRCTC portal, the regulation will begin from May 2, with the train being short-terminated at Ajni. From May 3 onwards, it will also commence its journey from Ajni instead of its usual originating point.
The move is understood to be linked to ongoing infrastructure and maintenance works along the heavily congested Gondia–Nagpur corridor. Sources indicate that apron work at Gondia station is nearing completion, while redevelopment work at Nagpur railway station has led to the closure of Platform No. 2.
Additionally, the Nagpur Division of Central Railway is undertaking special repairs at the double diamond crossing, a rare and complex track arrangement in the Indian Railways network. These works are likely contributing to the need for traffic regulation and block periods.
Officials from South East Central Railway (SECR) said the adjustments are part of broader efforts to ease operational pressure at Nagpur, one of the busiest railway junctions in the region, and to facilitate the smooth execution of scheduled infrastructure upgrades.
Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before travel, as the temporary changes may impact journey plans on this key route.
