The Congress-NCP Government has robbed lakhs of youths of job prospects by its actions of criminal negligence thus fooling with Nagpur and Vidarbha  people as far as MIHAN project’s functioning is concerned. The people of Nagpur and Vidarbha in general, and VED in particular, have been left red-faced, utterly disappointed even after pursuing the project in the last 18 years. There is urgent need for a full-time Managing Director to take the MIHAN project to its majestic moments.”

Nagpur News:

The Vidarbha Economic Development (VED), the pioneer of MIHAN, in the hardest ever words, slammed the Maharashtra Government for the tardy progress and total devil-may-care attitude towards taking off of MIHAN project even after conceiving it almost 18 years ago.

Devendra Parekh, President of VED, said, “The Congress-NCP Government has robbed lakhs of youths of job prospects by its actions of criminal negligence thus fooling with Nagpur and Vidarbha  people as far as MIHAN project’s functioning is concerned. The people of Nagpur and Vidarbha in general, and VED in particular, have been left red-faced, utterly disappointed even after pursuing the project in the last 18 years. The fact that the MIHAN project would create lakhs of jobs and attract global investors in large numbers has abysmally failed to motivate the senseless Congress-NCP Government to speed up its take-off to a glorious high,” Parekh lamented.

“No guts, no glory,” roared Parekh. “The Congress and NCP leaders must give their Government a shape of an efficient, dynamic Government to develop the MIHAN project as Growth Engine for Nagpur and the Vidarbha region. The MIHAN infrastructure created is one of the best in the country. Moreover it is ready since last 4 years. We can understand the turmoil in the world economy, a global recession set in by the Lehman crisis. But that is now a past. Now, we need aggressive marketing under a dynamic leader,” Parekh asserted.

The VED President, blasting the present Managing Director UPS Madan ever since he took the charge, Parekh said, “even the snail would feel ashamed of its slow speed in comparison with the speed the things have moved in the direction of making the MIHAN project function in the shortest of period. No Government Department ever worked so slowly,” Parekh said.

“How can a prestigious project be left at the mercy of such a poor performing typical bureaucrat? The MADC and MIPL are both limited companies with a fair amount of of independence of corporate governance. However, the way Mdan is running it, it is functioning like any other Government Department. Moreover, to add more wows, now he is holding dual charge as CEO of MMRDA. It clearly means there is no full-time dynamic action-oriented Chief Executive Officer of MADC,” Parekh added.

“The Nagpur Airport has been transferred to MIHAN for five years that is only uo to 2014 by which time they are expected to finalise the strategic joint venture partner and start developing the world-class international airport. The Ernst and Young were appointed in 2011 to prepare the documents for inviting tenders for the same. However, Madan, typical to his “go slow”, take-no-risk, take-no-decision attitude, is still undecided which model to adopt for this joint venture. The outcome is no progress and the end of contract given to E&Y Consultant. It is gross injustice to Vidarbha in the shape of Madan, a babu who is leading MIHAN! Similarly, the project is suffering due to an outdated and government style of marketing. In the SEZ, 740 ha land has still not been sold. This constitutes to more than 50 per cent saleable area,” Parekh claimed.

Parekh further elaborated that the excellent road network, power, water and other related infrastructures are all ready. Thanks to the Chief Minister and his government, the Shivangaon and compensation issue has been resolved and shifting and relocating is in progress. But that is not enough. There is urgent need for a full-time Managing Director to take the MIHAN project to its majestic moments. One time Divisional Commissioner J S Saharia or Manukumar Shrivastav should immediately appointed as full-time MD so that the prestigious MIHAN project sees the brightest sun shine and the youths and other Vidarbha people are prospered in their lives, Parekh said.
