Nagpur: Launching a blistering attack on BJP leaders from Vidarbha, Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said that a world of difference is being witnessed in their “Kathni aani Karni” (precept and practice) and there is vast credibility gap.

Speaking on a discussion initiated under Rule 293, Vikhe Patil said a year has completed since the alliance government has come to power. But the speed of development work is not visible as was expected. A glance over the situation points out the Government has no will power and attitude to do work. The BJP leaders had promised Vidarbha people that ‘Vikasachi Ganga” (overall development) will be brought to the State if came to power. What happened to that promise? asked the Opposition Leader and added that the Ministers in the Government have no interest at all in changing the face of Vidarbha.

Referring to the controversial statement of Advocate General Shrihari Aney, Vikhe Patil wondered how the State’s AG dared to insult 105 martyrs of Sanyukta Maharashtra movement. Why the Government is not initiating action in this matter? Will the government turn a blind eye on those people who are heaping insult on Maharashtra’s martyrs? Will this be the attitude of government? People of the State need answers to these questions, said the Congress leader.

“The Congress Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had accorded the status of National Project to Vidarbha’s Gosikhurd Project,” reminded Vikhe Patil and asked the BJP leaders as to which big project has been planned for Vidarbha? “The BJP Government has gone on dream showing and announcement spree. Considering distressing the situation in Vidarbha and Marathwada, need was to waive loans of farmers and compensation for crop loss. But the Government has made mockery of the farmers. The Chief Minister has announced Rs 10,500 crore ‘tricky’ package. Even after the announcement of package, proportion of suicides by farmers has not stopped. Therefore, the government has totally failed to provide relief to farmers in Vidarbha and State as well, charged the Leader of Opposition.
