Valedictory function of 69th Batch of IRS on 13th April 2017

Nagpur: The Officers of the 69th batch of IRS ( Indian Revenue Service) who completed their training will have a valedictory function on Thursday, 13th of April, 2017 at 9.30 A.M. at NADT, Auditorium in Nagpur. The Chief Guest for the valediction function will be Sh. Sushil Chandra, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi. The ceremony will be attended by the senior officers of the Income Tax Department and other senior government officials in Nagpur.

The National Academy of Direct Taxes in Nagpur is the apex training academy in India for the officers of Income Tax Department. The direct recruit IRS officers undergo sixteen month long Induction training at the NADT. The IRS officers are recruited by the Civil Service Examination conducted by the UPSC. 150 Officers of the 69th Batch of Indian Revenue Service joined the Academy for their Induction Training in December 2015, along with 2 officer trainees from the Royal Government of Bhutan. During the sixteen months, these officers were trained in all aspects of tax administration, including In-depth understanding of the Income Tax Act and other direct tax laws; allied laws like GST, Companies Act, Contract Act, IPC, CPC, Cr.P.C, Indian Evidence Act, Transfer of Property Act, Benami Transactions Act etc.

They were also sensitized towards public service and were made aware of the RTI Act. The academics also included training in principles of accountancy, management, cyber forensic, financial investigation and financial forensics etc. In addition to theoretical inputs, the trainess have also been exposed to various practical aspects by way of attachments with various statutory bodies in India including the Parliament, NISM (National Institute of Securities Markets), RBI, Stock exchange etc. ,On the Job Training, Bharat Darshan along with International Attachment. Apart from training them in discharging their core functions of direct taxes collection and tackling tax evasion, they were also provided inputs to tackle economic crimes like money laundering, tax evasion and various other financial scams.

During the training sufficient emphasis is laid on the physical fitness of the officer trainees. They are required to compulsorily join one of the activities out of Physical Training , Karate and Yoga. Their abilities in the domain of sports and physical activities are brought to the fore in various activities including INTAX games, which develop camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst Officer Trainees.

After Valediction, these officers will be posted as Assistant Commissioners of Income-tax in various field offices across the country.
