Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday withdrew ‘Y’ category security cover provided to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar who is in jail in connection with the Unnao Rape Case. Earlier on Saturday, a Lucknow court had sent him to seven-day police custody.

Kuldeep was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 13 for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Unnao. The development came a few hours after the Uttar Pradesh government handed over the Unnao rape case to the CBI. An FIR was lodged against Sengar on April 12 under sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abduction of woman), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Three cases have been filed against the BJP legislator.

Meanwhile, reports have stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to conduct narco and polygraph test on rape accused Sengar after contradictions were found in his statements during interrogation. CBI officers, probing Unnao rape case, gave a similar set of questions to Sengar after a gap of one hour and his answers to some of the questions were reportedly found to be contradictory.
