The Department of Physical Education/Sports & Department of Law of Dr.Ambedkar college have Organized the National Conference on Sports Law on 15th and 16th February 2014 at Dr.Ambedkar College Nagpur in association with High Court Bar Association, Nagpur.
About 400 Lawyers, Law Graduates, Directors of Physical Education, Lecturers, Teachers working in Universities & Colleges, Coaches, Psychologist, Research scholars & students from all over India are expected to attend the conference.
The conference focuses on the legal aspects of care and supervision in sports activities at all places of sports coaching and sporting competitions like schools, colleges, sports clubs, sports associations etc. and on the allied laws like Competition Law, The International and Legal framework of Sports Law and also the Implication of the Sports Bill, 2013 and the Prevention of Sporting Fraud Bill.
The Conference thus aims to provide an outlet for disseminating new research findings, practices and techniques in the emerging field of Sports Law. In addition to this, it will also provide an opportunity to the delegates to share in detail ideas pertaining to future challenges in Sports Law.
The Conference will be formally inaugurated at 10:00 a.m. on the February 15, 2014
by Vice Chancellor of RTMNU, Dr.Vilas Sapkal. Vice Chancellor, National Law School University of India, Bangalore Prof. Dr. Venkat Rao, will deliver the key note address.
Former Indian Captain Sanjay Manjrekar, Woman Grand Master and Arjuna Awardee Bhagyashree Thipsay, Member of Management Council of RTM Nagpur University Dr.Babanrao Taywade, Vice Chairman of Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa Adv. Anil Gowardipe and Secretary S.J.Fulzele, P.P.Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti will be the guests of honour.
The inaugural programme will be presided over by Former Governor of Kerala and Bihar R.S.Gavai and President of P.P. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur.
On February 15, 2014, the technical Sessions will commence at 11:30 am. Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat, Haryana, India Weatherly Schwab will deliver a lecture on “Law of negligence and duty of care with respect to sports and sporting activities”.
At 02.00 pm, Deputy Director (Legal), Competition Commission of India, N.Delhi on Competition Law & Sports Administration Dr.Vijaykumar Singh followed by Paper Presentation at from 4.00 pm.
On February 16, 2014, The Technical Session will commence at 9:30 am by the Guest Lecture of Consulting Sports Editor, India Today Group Boria Majumdar on “Legal & Ethical Responsibilities of a Coach”. President of School Games Federation of India Padma Shree Mahabali Satpalji will Chair this Session.
At 11.15 am Sports Lawyer, Supreme Court of India, N.Delhi Adv.Vidushpat Singhania will deliver lecture on the topic International & National Legal framework of Sports Law followed by Open House, Panel Discussion on “Sports Bill, 2013”. The panelists of the Panel Discussion would be Padma Mahabali Satpalji, Boria Majumdar, Adv.Vidushpat Singhania and Former Indian Cricketer Prashant Vaidya.
The following Awards shall be awarded amongst the papers presented at the Conference: Best Research Paper (Sports – Male and Female) I Best Research Paper (Law – Male and Female) Best Student Researcher (Sports – Male and Female) I Best Student Researcher (Law – Male and Female). In all 100 papers will be presented at the Conference.
The Chief Guest at the Valedictory function will be President, School Games Federation of India Padma Shree Mahabali Satpalji, Adv.Shashank Manohar and Dr.Babanrao Taywade, Member, Management Council, RTMNU will be the guests of honour. Secretary of P.P.Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti S.J.Fulzele will preside over the function.
