Taking the number of street crimes to alarming level along with rising incidents of chain snatching, the incidents of molestation and eve-teasing have also reached its peak. On Friday two more complaints of molestation were reported at Pratap Nagar police station.
Police sources said a 22-year-old girl complained that the accused Vinay Tejnarayan Rai had been stalking her since July 2013. He then called her friend and used obscene words for the victim. Her friend informed the victim about the phone call after which she lodged a complaint with Pratap Nagar Police against Vinay.
Cops have booked him on the charges under sections 354 (a), (2), 354 (d), read with sub sections 66 (a) of Information Technology Act.
In another case, a 17-year-old girl was stalked and molested by a youth between April and July, 2014. The accused has been identified as Vikky chandan Sonwane (21), a resident of Gopal Nagar. The accused stalked her and then forced her to talk to him. Later he molested her with his indecent words and also threatened her.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the teenager, Pratap Nagar police have registered an offence under Sections 354 (a), (2), 354 (d), read with sub sections 66 (a) of Information Technology Act and sub sections 8, 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
