It appears eve teasing and molestation cases have become the order of the day in Nagpur while cops remain inactive on such incidents that are rising at alarming rate. Two such cases were registered by Koradi and Jaripatka wherein a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old girl were being victimized on Thursday.
A 19-year-old girl went to vegetable market at Mankapur on Thursday at 8 pm when an eve-teaser started passing indecent comments on her. The youth, identified as Naresh Puri, also snatched away her dupatta and grabbed her hand. On the basis of the girl’s complaint, Koradi police registered an offence under sections 354 (a), (1) of the IPC and started the investigations.
The second incident took place under Jaripatka police station. On Thursday at around 7.30 pm, the 17-year-old complainant was heading towards home from her tuition classes. Meanwhile, accused Pritesh Suresh Sahare (20) and his unknown friend of similar age intercepted her midway at Patankar Square and tried to befriend her. As she opposed the boy’s gesture, the youths started hurling profanities at her way and threatened to kill her.
The scared girl rushed Jaripatka police station and lodged a complaint against them. Cops registered an offence under sections 354 (3), (1), and 34 of the IPC.
Surprising part was that no accused were arrested in both the above incidents till the time of publishing this post.
