Two men booked for rape with marriage promise

Nagpur: Two men, including an engineer, have been booked on the charges of raping two women by promising to marry them.

In the first case, the accused Nitin Dilip Chandangir (36), who is an engineer by profession, resident of behind Kudrat Pan Mandir, Old Dnyaneshwar Nagar, Manewada Road, two years ago promised a 21-year old girl to marry her. With this promising word, the accused Nitin exploited the girl sexually at various places. However, when the girl pressured Nitin to marry her, he flatly refused calling her caste. Feeling cheated, the victimized girl registered a case with Hudkeshwar police against Dilip.

API A N Ghodke booked the accused Nitin Chandangir under Sections 376(N), 417 of the IPC read with Sub-sections 3(1)(12) of Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and probing the matter further.

Similarly, Amitabh Waghmare (29) of Ramai Nagar, Jaripatka, got acquainted with a 29-year old woman and promised to marry her. The accused Amitabh thereafter established physical relationship with the woman over a period from December 2013 to May 2016. But the accused refused to marry with the woman for unspecified reasons. The dejected woman lodged a complaint against accused Amitabh with Jaripatka police.

PSI Raut has registered a case under Sections 376(N), 417 of the IPC and investigating further.
