Nagpur: Bori police, coming under Nagpur Rural, arrested two men who were found transporting a stock of foreign liquor in an ambulance. The liquor was being taken to “Dry” Chandrapur for sale in premium. Cops have seized the liquor stock and the vehicle collectively worth Rs 7.05 lakh.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Bori cops stopped the ambulance (MH-40/AK 3296) near Jassa Dhaba on Nagpur-Chandrapur NH No. 7. Upon frisking, the two accused namely Imtiaz Mohd Ansari (37) and Omprakash Beniram Bhagat (47), both residents of Durgapur, Ward No 4, Chandrapur were found transporting 180 ML 18 bottles of No. 1 Whisky without permit. The liquor was bound for prohibited Chandrapur district for sale in premium rates. Cops have seized the liquor stock and the ambulance collectively worth Rs 7.05 lakh.
An offence under Section 65(A) of Maharashtra Prohibition Act has been registered against the two arrested accused. Further probe is being carried out by Constable Vijaysingh Thakur.
