Nagpur:
In what could be termed as efficient investigation, proper coordination among DB Squads and Crime Branch personnel and efficient supervision by top-police officials, the cops succeeded in nabbing all the accused involved in the case of double murder at Khamla with two hours and thirty minutes on April 30, 2016.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Shailesh Balkawde, they reached the crime spot within 15-20 minutes which helped in an early start of the investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Shailesh Balkawde while addressing the media personnel said that the first difficult task that the cops face is the identification of the deceased. Since the cops had a prior knowledge of the crime-history of the deceased, it became easier to identify the deceased. However, he added that the accused had attacked both the deceased with bricks and concrete blocks and defacing the deceased.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma while addressing the media personnel said that they managed to nab all the nine accused in a record time of 2.5 hours. He added that while some had a direct involvement in the commission of the crime, others played passive or indirect role in the crime.

Of the nine three accused are said to be the main accused who had played an active role in perpetrating the crime. The main accused include,

  1. Jamsher Sarfuddin Ansari aged 22 years and a resident of Priyanka Wadi, Behind Sai Temple, falling within the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station.
  2. Ganesh Radheshyam Aangre aged 22 years and a resident of Dhanteshwari Nagar, Near Hanuman Temple, falling within the jurisdiction of Dhantoli Police Station.

The third accused is 17-years old and is said to be minor as ascertained by the cops.

Interestingly, the girl was present in the crime spot at the time when the accused had committed the murder. The girl is the one who had run away from the spot and had informed the father of the deceased who in-turn had informed the police about the murder. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police  Shailesh Balkawde, the cops had picked her up for questioning from some other house and not her own house. The girl was allegedly present with the deceased Avinash Suresh De right from 9 pm. The girl is said to be 22 years of age. However, DCP Balkawde claimed that her role in the crime is not ascertained as yet. The girl is said to have reported to the cops that the main accused Jamsher Sarfuddin Ansari had said that “Aaj Isko Mar Dalenge” (Today we will kill him). DCP Balkawde said that this could be an act of pre-meditated crime. However, the role of the girl and the statements need verification.

DCP Balkawde said that the girl reported that the main accused Jamsher Ansari had in fact picked up a physical fight with the deceased Pundit alias Kuldeep Chandrakant Tiwari. The second deceased Avinash Suresh De is allegedly said to have intervened and prevent the fight from escalating and turning violent. However, in the rage, both of the deceased got murdered.

As reported earlier by Nagpur Today, the exact motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained. Many motives could have resulted in the murder. The girl is said to have identified one or two of the accused. The cops of the Detective Branch Squad and the Crime Branch are investigating the motive, verifying the facts and the statements of the accused to ascertain the real motive behind the double murder.

DCP Balkawde also added that the main accused Jamsher Ansari had as many as 12 cases of burglary, theft, looting registered against him in various police stations, while the second main accused Ganesh Radheshyam Aangre has only one case of burglary registered against him.
