Nagpur: A ruckus over dancing during Durga immersion procession sparked a bloody clash between two groups of youngsters that left many injured. The clash took place in Hudkeshwar area on Friday night. Complaint and counter complaint have been filed by the two groups against each other. At least 12 persons have been booked under attempt to murder charge and other offences.

The trouble started when the two youngsters, Suraj Chaman Parmar (18), resident of Manewada, Besa Road and his friend Nitin, were enjoying dancing during Durga immersion procession that was taken out in the area around 10 pm on Friday. While dancing, Suraj and Nitin were jostled and jolted by another group of dancing youngsters namely Chetan Shalikram Savarkar (21), Abhinav Ajay Shirpurkar (21), Ashish Wamanrao Pawar (21), Chetan Shravan Charde (21), Ankush Madke and an unidentified youth, all residents of Akash Nagar. A wordy duel erupted between the dancing youngsters which later took a bloody turn. The group of six youngsters accosted Suraj and Nitin along the procession and attacked them with wooden sticks with the intention of killing them. Nitin suffered grievous injuries and was taken to GMCH and admitted there.

On the basis of a complaint of Suraj Parmar, Hudkeshwar API Chougule booked the six accused under Sections 307, 143, 147, 148, 149, 364 of IPC.

However, it seems, the attack did not go well with Suraj Parmar and his other friends namely Arjun, Kiran Solanki, Nitin Gupta, Vicky Gaidhane, and others. The group waited for an opportune time and first thrashed rival group members Ashish Pawar and his friend severely. Later, the Suraj Parmar group called Ashish Pawar, Chetan Charde, Chetan Savarkar and others near Shesh Nagar Bus Stop and assaulted them with wooden rafters and sticks and inflicted bloody injuries.

A counter complaint was lodged by Ashish Pawar against the rival group. API Chougule this time booked Suraj Parmar and his group under Sections 324, 143, 147, 148, 149 of IPC and launched investigations into the matter.
