Two families clash over scooter parking in Shantinagar, 1 held, 7 booked

Nagpur: A petty issue of scooter parking led to bloody clashes between two families in Shantinagar area here on Sunday night. An accused man has been arrested and seven others have been booked by cops following complaint and counter complaint.

The trouble started when the complainant Gajendra Nandlal Bhanarkar (32), resident of Bastarwari, near a temple, told police that one of the accused Balya alias Kiran Bhanarkar (32), picked up a quarrel with him over parking of two-wheeler around 8.45 pm on Sunday. The accused Balya started thrashing Gajendra. But when Gajendra’s wife Rupali tried to save her husband, she too was bashed up.

In the meantime other accused namely Ranjana Moreshwar Barapatre (47), Navin Moreshwar Barapatre (27), Tarabai Ramdas Bhanarkar (65) and Ramdas Marotrao Bhanarkar (75) too joined and thrashed Gajendra and his brother Kamesh Bhanarkar (23) severely. One of the accused Navin Barapatre attacked Kamesh Bhanarkar with a chain and inflicted a deep injury on his neck. The accused also threatened to burn two-wheeler of Gajendra.

Shantinagar ASI Mahesh Kushwah booked the accused under Sections 147, 149, 323, 504, 506 of the IPC and arrested Navin Barapatre.

In the counter complaint, the accused Ranjana Moreshwar Barapatre told police that Gajendra Nandlal Bhanarkar and his brother Kamesh Bhanarkar attacked her father and ransacked washing machine and a Maestro moped (MH-49/AB 8147). The accused brothers also threatened to kill them.

Shantinagar ASI Mahesh Kushwah, acting on the complaint, booked Gajendra and Kamesh Bhanarkar under Sections 448, 452, 323, 504, 506, 34 of the IPC. Further probe is underway.
