Two-day “Elets Smart City Summit-Nagpur” begins on April 7

Nagpur: The two-day “Elets Smart City Summit-Nagpur” is being organised in the city by Nagpur Municipal Corporation in association with Noida-based Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd is commencing on Friday, April 7 at Hotel Le Meridien. Mayor Nanda Jichkar will inaugurate the two-day summit. More than two dozens of Mayors, Municipal Commissioners, Additional Commissioners and top officials of Central and State Governments along with delegates from many foreign countries like Sweden, France and Spain.

Addressing a press conference, the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that other dignitaries present on the occasion include Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Jadhav, Ruling party Leader Sandeep Joshi, Leader of Opposition Sanjay Mahakalkar, and top private enterprises working in the field of Smart City in India, policy makers, and other relevant stakeholders will participate in the two-day long discussions on various issues related to various aspects of Smart City. Some of the key eminent personalities who will be joining the mega two-day forum are Antony Vives Thomas, ex-Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, Abhay Damle, Joint Secretary Transport, Government of India, Sanjay Chahande, DDG, UIDAI, V K Gautam, Principal Secretary IT, Anil Nair, Managing Director of Cisco, Harshavardhan Chitale, CEO Philips Lighting and other eminent experts.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor Nanda Jichkar the two-day event will prove a milestone in the Smart City Project of Nagpur. The summit will benefit the cities selected for Smart City project across the country. The event will help Nagpur in becoming a Smart City. Nagpur is the only city that is implementing the Smart City project and it will be a role model for other cities. The city water supply machinery is excellent and marching towards 24X7 water supply scheme.

The Municipal Commissioner Hardikar said that the Summit is aimed at Smart Governance, Smart Mobility, Smart Infrastructure and Smart Environment. In the four subjects, experts from private, government sectors across the country, policy makers, industrialists and stakeholders connected with Smart City project would be participating and holding discussions on various aspects. Similarly, various stalls by different organisations and related private entities like Cisco, Philips, Tata Motors, Vishwaraj Infra, Scania, Microsoft, and many other companies would be put up during the event. The concluding function will be held on Saturday, April 8. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will grace the function. The last session of the second day will be graced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

A detailed report of the Summit will be prepared over all aspects. The suggestions incorporated in the report would be implemented in the Nagpur Smart City project. Arrangements have also been made for visits of delegates to various projects being implemented by Nagpur Municipal Corporation since the past one and half year. The shortcomings pointed out by the delegates would be studied and sorted out for implementation in the Smart City project of Nagpur.

The Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Jadhav said that the premiere show of “Barcelona-The Rose of Fire” short film produced for Smart City project and directed by Oscar winning Director Woody Allen would be screen during the Summit. The movie will be screened at PVR Multiplex on April 7. The premiere is the special attraction of the event. The premiere of the film was already screened in the two cities – Barcelona and Paris. The delegates and all the invites will experience the finer aspects about the Smart City by watching the movie.
