Two con men posing as ‘public servants’ rob man, lady teacher in Sadar

Nagpur: A 50 year old man and a lady teacher accompanying him were tricked and robbed by two unidentified conmen who posed themselves as public servants.

The victims, Manoj Augustine (50), resident of East Krupasadan, SFS College, and a lady teacher named Rita were going towards Allsaints Cathedral in Sadar around 8.30 am on Tuesday. When they reached near Red Restaurant, the two unidentified conmen accosted them and posed themselves as public servants.

The two “public servants” asked Manoj Augustine and Rita to sit in a vehicle and video shoot them on their mobile phone. The two accused asked Manoj and Rita to hand over their mobile phone and purse containing Rs 4500 and a hundred dollar note. Late, both the tricksters vanished from the scene with the booty. Manoj and Rita soon realized that they were tricked and robbed as well.

Sadar API R R Sawant, based on a plaint lodged by Manoj, has booked the two con “public servants” under Sections 420, 170, 34 of IPC and searching for them.
