Nagpur: Crime Branch of Nagpur Rural Police raided a colony in Kamptee area and arrested two bookies who were accepting betting over India-South Africa One Dayer being played in Mumbai on Sunday. Cops have seized cash and other material worth Rs 60,000 from the possession arrested accused.
The bookies have been identified as Abhishek Agrawal (25), native of Gondia and Pramod Dongre (42) of Nagpur. The Crime Branch sleuths on Sunday evening received a tip off that cricket betting is going on at a house in Labhesh Loren Colony of Kamptee’s Yerkheda area.
Subsequently, a raid was carried out on the den and the two bookies Abhishek and Pramod were arrested while they were accepting betting over India-South Africa ODI being played in Mumbai. The team of cops, led by chief of Crime Branch Goyekar, seized cash, TV set, laptop, mobile phones and other material collectively worth Rs 60,000 from the possession of the arrested accused duo.
A case under Sections 4, 5, 12A of Prevention of Gambling Act was registered against the two nabbed bookies at Kamptee Police Station.
