: Ritika Thaker of Nagpur created another record by winning twin events in a future series badminton tournament at Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This is the first time Nagpur girl has won twin future series open tournament.

Playing womens singles and womens doubles with her partner Simran Singhi, Ritika won both the titles . In the singles semi finals she beat top seed and world no 86 Hadia Hosny of Egypt 21/13 and 21/16.

In the finals today Ritika beat Simran Singhi in the finals the score reading 21/13 and 21/19, later in the womens finals Ritika teaming up with Simran Singhi, easily overcome Zainab Momoh and Peace Orji 21/11 and 21/14 to claim her second title. This was first open category international tournament 16 yrs old Ritika was playing. It may also be mentioned that last July Ritika had won the Isreal Junior open in the girls singles category.

Expressing her views from Abidjan, Ritika said she was very very happy to win both the titles. She did not really expect to win them as there was competition and the players were much older to her, she was the youngest participant, she give the credit of her success to her coaches and parents and the support provided by BAI, MBA , and NDBA. She says there is a long way to go and this is just a good beginning.

Ritika is coached by Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal and practices at YMCA and Ladies club.
