Nagpur: Sub Junior girls Ritika Thaker of Nagpur and her partner Simran Singhi of Mumbai defied their age by winning the under 17 as well as under 19 doubles title at the 1st Maharashtra junior (under 17 and 19)State selection badminton tournament held at Karad. The under 15 India no 1 pair routed Radhika Dagaonkar (MS) and Aditi Kute (NSK) 21-10 and 21-14 in the under 17 girls doubles finals and later over powered much older Akshaya Warang and Kareena Madan (GM) 21-17 and 21-09 to annex the under 19 doubles title too.

Incredibly, the top ranked pair in India achieved this feat in their maiden appearance in the higher (under 17 and 19)category in the state tournament.

Another star was Mrunmayi Saoji who won the girls under 19 singles crown, she beat Vaidehi Choudhari 21-11 and 21-17, Sourabh Kelharkar finished runners up in the under 19 boys doubles category, sourabh and his partner Deep Rambhiya went down to Nikhil Wadekar and Sai Dinesh Reddy 16-21 and 21-23.

Simran is a student of Ryan International School and trains at Uday Pawar academy, Ritika is a student of Chanda Devi Saraf School in the 9th std, Ritika and mrunmayi both train under Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal. They all have thanked their coaches for the success they have achieved.
