Nagpur: A rashly driven truck knocked a pedestrian dead near Mahajan Complex opposite Faras Gate in Mankapur area here on Thursday evening. The truck driver fled the spot fearing angry reaction from nearby people.
The deceased 37-year old unidentified man was crossing road walking near Mahajan Complex around 5.30 pm on Thursday. At the same time, the recklessly driven truck (MH-40/BG 1219) coming from Koradi and going to Mankapur, hit the man forcefully. As a result, he suffered critical injuries and died on the spot. Upon information, a team of Mankapur police reached the spot and sent body of the unidentified man to Mayo Hospital for autopsy. The truck driver fled the spot leaving behind the killer vehicle.
Mankapur ASI Padmakar Dhurve has booked the truck driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
