Tripura Governor DY Patil suffers massive heart attack in Amravati, Condition serious

Nagpur News : Governor of Tripura D Y Patil suffered a massive heart attack on Tuesday while addressing a gathering at a programme in Amravati where he visited to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal (HVPM). He was taken to Mumbai by an Air Ambulance at 11 pm. Doctors reported his condition as “serious”.

78 years old Patil who hails from Kolhapur in Maharashtra came to Amravati this morning and felt uneasy while on stage. Former President Pratibha Patil was also present. He was later taken to Circuit House where his doctor Anil Meshram administered him first aid and was shifted to Dr Vijay Bhatkar’s hospital.

Earlier Amravati Deputy Collector Sachin Kalantre told that Patil has developed blockages and doctors were attending to him. Doctors informed that Patil vomitted and sweated a lot.

Patil’s son and Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home Satej Patil rushed to Amravati in a charted plane from Mumbai and traveled with Patil to Nagpur .

Besides the centenary celebrations of HVPM, Patil, an eminent educationist from Maharashtra, was scheduled to attend a couple of other functions in Amravati. He was supposed to have lunch at the residence of Pratibha Patil.

Patil has founded a number of educational institutes in Maharashtra including the D Y Patil college of Engineering and Technology at Kolhapur and D Y Patil College of Engineering in Pune in 1984. He received the Padma Shri award in 1991 for social work.
