Tremendous response of audience to the early morning musical event Bhramhanand

  • Reputed Semi-classical singer Malini Awasthi’s performance leaves audience spellbound

In the series of events organized by South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, reputed Semi-classical singer Malini Awasthi was invited to perform during the monthly early morning musical event “Bhramhanand” performance on Sunday the March 8, 2015.

The programme was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Anup Kumar, Nagpur Police Commissioner K K Pathak, Director NADT Gunjan Sharma, Chairman of NECO Group Basantlal Shah, Managing Director of Baidyanath Suresh Sharma by lighting the traditional lamp by these dignitaries.

The artists were felicitated by the Guests with floral bouquets.

Reputed Semi-classical singer Malini Awasthi’s performance with a series of melodious numbers left the audience spellbound. The way she presented the traditionally popular renditions won the hearts of the audience claiming praise. The musical presentations included Tumri, Kajri, Chaithi, Fag Geet and Hori. Before presenting each style, she explained in detail the song, and how they are relevant and important these songs are with the normal social life. This enhanced the intrinsic value and added a different perspective to her rendition.  Her musical performance had included accompaniments by Murad Ali on Sarangi, Akhtar Khan on the Tabla and Karim Niyagi on the Harmonium. The programme was compered by Shweta Shelgaonkar.

Keeping in mind the Holi Festival, part from semi-classical musical performance, many other competitions too were organized on various Holi related topics.

The following were awarded:
Art: Amit Gonade (First Prize) Rs 1500/-
Well Dressed-up Couple: Mrs. and Mr. Sachin Budhadev (First Prize) Rs 1500/-

Poem Writing:
Deepti Kushwaha (First Prize) Rs 1500/-
Sachin Budhadev (Second Prize) Rs 1000/-
Suresh Tomar (Third Prize) Rs 500/-

The above prize winners will also be given free passes to all Bhramhanand programme organized every month during 2015-16. In the month of April, Bhramhanand’s winning artists will also be awarded.

The Judges included Vishnu Manohar, Shyam Madhav Gond, Sadanand Chaudhari, Rohini Ghatate, Meera Jate and Meghna Dumre.

Many prominent citizens of Nagpur city graced the organizers with their presence. The prominent persons included Dr Kelkar, Dr Agnihotri, Rajendra Purohit and others. All the officials and the staff of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, were present to ensure the success of the programme.

The Director of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, Dr Piyush Kumar claimed that it is only because of connoisseurs of good music that they have been able to successfully organize the Bhramhanand programme every month. He has appealed to the citizens at large to continue to attend the Bhramhanand programme.
