Kuhi PI Subhash Kale
Nagpur: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), who had trapped Kuhi Police Inspector Subhash Kale and Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Chavan red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a hotelier, were themselves left embarrassed and red-faced. The accused PI Subhash Kale made a dramatic escape from the custody of ACB sleuths on the pretext of changing uniform. Kale entered a room and gave a slip to the ACB men by fleeing from a back door.
Before his escape the accused Police Inspector had enacted a high-voltage drama during the trap action. The PI waved his service revolver and tried to intimidate the ACB sleuths. The Superintendent of Police (ACB) P R Patil has confirmed the dramatic escape of the accused Police Inspector Subhash Kale from ACB custody. Now a fresh offence has been registered against the absconding PI and search has been launched to apprehend him. The PSI Sanjay Chavan too had made an attempt to escape, sources said.
Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Chavan
It may be recalled that the ACB sleuths on Tuesday night had arrested the Kuhi PI Subhash Kale and PSI Sanjay Chavan for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs two lakh from a hotelier. According to information, Vishnu Advani, owner of a Dhaba on Umrer Road, had purchased a piece of land situated behind his Dhaba. But, ownership of the land is under dispute between two brothers. Advani, after purchasing the land, had started construction work. However, one of the brothers lodged a complaint against Advani at Kuhi Police Station. Acting on the complaint, cops asked Advani to stop the construction work and remain present in the police station.
During questioning, Advani told the cops that he has purchased the land and will continue construction. However, the accused police officers threatened to call Tehsildar and other officials and stop the construction work through them. After the threat, the accused PI Kale and PSI Chavan demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from Advani for not registering offence against him but settled for Rs 5 lakh. Advani handed over Rs 40,000 to the accused police officers on Monday and ‘promised’ to pay the remaining amount soon. But not willing to pay the bribe, Advani reached ACB office and lodged a complaint against the police officials. The two police officers of Kuhi Police Station reached the Dhaba around 10.30 pm for receiving the bribe amount. The ACB sleuths who had already laid a trap at the Dhaba pounced on the accused PI and PSI the moment they accepted the bribe amount.
Sensing deep trouble, the accused PI Subhash Kale went behind the Dhaba on the pretext of urination but seeing the ACB sleuths in action, he waved his service revolver at them. Anyhow, the ACB men prevailed on the PI and took him into custody. Meanwhile, the accused PSI Chavan ran from the spot in a bid to throw the bribe money so that proof is destroyed. However, a woman police constable Deepti Motghare jumped on the PSI and caught him. A scuffle reportedly broke out between the PSI and the woman police constable received injuries.
In the melee, the accused Kuhi Police Inspector Subhash Kale entered a room and escaped from the rear door leaving the ACB sleuths red-faced. By running away from the hands of the law, the accused PI has invited a fresh trouble.
