Transfer cauldron: With two-year tenure complete, top Nagpur cops “lobby’ for plum SP post!

Nagpur: With almost 80 percent of police officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Nagpur and Vidarbha completing two years of tenure, most of the police officers have started ‘lobbying’ for the plum post of Superintendent of Police in the Nagpur district, according to media reports.

According to the reports, there are 10 Deputy Commissioners of Police appointed in the Nagpur police force. Currently, three out of ten Deputy Commissioners of Police have been transferred to other districts. Therefore, the additional charge of two zones and one branch is with other Deputy Commissioners. Five of the six Deputy Commissioners of Police in the city have almost completed their two-year tenure in Nagpur. Among them Noorul Hasan, Gajanan Rajmane, Sarang Awad, Chinmay Pandit, Dr. Sandeep Pakhale have completed their two-year tenure in Nagpur. Deputy Commissioner of Police Manish Kalwania has been transferred from Nagpur to Aurangabad Rural, Lohit Matani has been transferred to the post of Superintendent of Police in Bhandara and Akshay Shinde has been transferred as Osmanabad SP.

According to reports, Nagpur’s senior-most IPS officer Sarang Awad is awaiting promotion. However, there is talk of his appointment to the post of Yavatmal District Superintendent of Police. Chinmoy Pandit, the successful Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, had prepared to go on deputation to Delhi. However, his name is being discussed for the post of Akola District Superintendent. Gajanan Rajmane, who spends the most time in Nagpur and has the image of ‘Mr Clean’, is all set to move to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissionerate. However, there is currently a discussion that he will be appointed as Deputy Commissioner in Pune Commissionerate. Similarly, Zone-2 Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sandeep Pakhale is also being discussed and sources have predicted the possibility that he will go get the post of Deputy Commissioner in Nashik.

There is also a discussion about the transfer of Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Magar, who was appointed during the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government. It is learnt that Magar will be appointed to the post of Superintendent in Nashik district, reports claimed.
