Nagpur: Two middle-aged-women were killed when they were hit by a running train near Kalamna railway station on Monday night. The deceased have been identified as Dablibai Ramratan Thakre (45), a resident of Tumsar in Bhandara and Radhika Bajirao Meshram (48), a resident of Tiroda in Gondia district.

Police said that the two were going to a relative’s place at Vijay Nagar to extend an invitation. They alighted at Kalamna railway station on Monday night at about 8.15 p.m. and started towards Vijay Nagar walking on the side of the railway tracks adjoining Kalamna railway crossing.

Both the women had wrapped a tight cloth around their neck and ears to save them from biting cold, because of which they could not hear the thundering sound of the train coming from behind. The speeding train hit them from behind killing both of them on the spot. The railway authorities informed about the incident to cops.
