Traffic cops crack whip on 363 erring public transport vehicles

Nagpur: Traffic police cracked a whip on public transport vehicles violating rules by carrying overloaded or illegal passengers.

Traffic cops, under the directives of Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kadam and DCP (Traffic) Gajanan Rajmane, in a surprise drive took action against erring drivers of autos, Jeeps, Max vehicles, Omni cars, private travel buses for violating rules.

Total 368 drivers of various vehicles faced the police heat. Challans were issued and the process of suspension and cancellation of permits of these erring drivers and vehicles has been started.

The drivers of various public transport vehicles were found carrying illegal and overloaded passengers beyond the capacity of the vehicles. The offending drivers, with violation of traffic rules, not only put their lives in danger but also of passengers.
