Traders selling bogus seeds will be punished severely, warns Bawankule

Nagpur: “The administrative machinery, while planning programme for 2015-16 Kharif season, should ensure that bogus seeds and other farm related material are not sold in market. Those found dealing spurious seeds and plants will be severely punished,” asserted the Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule while reviewing Kharif season situation.

The meeting held at Bachat Bhavan of Collectorate reviewed the 2014-15 agriculture production and drew a plan for 2015-16 Kharif farm production. The meeting was presided over by Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Others present on the occasion include MP Krupal Tumane, MLAs Sudhakar Deshmukh, Ashish Deshmukh, Sudhir Parve, Sameer Meghe, Mallikarjun Reddy, Dr Milind Mane, Zilla Parishad President Nisha Savarkar, Agriculture Committee Chairperson Asha Gaekwad, District Collector Abhishek Krishna, Chief Executive Officer Shivajirao Jondhale, District Superintending Agriculture Officer Archana Kadu and other officials.

Bawankule directed the officials to focus more on maximum productivity of crops. They should convene Gram Sabhas, hold discussions with farmers. Any official found neglecting his or her assigned responsibilities will be dealt with sternly, warned the Minister.

CM will pay surprise visits:

After the commencement of Kharif season, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will pay surprise visits to any villages in Nagpur District. If Agriculture Assistants, Agriculture Officers, Patwaris are found absent in the villages during Chief Minister’s visits, they will face strict action, warned Bawankule.
