Timely action saves young couple from drowning into Waki River

Timely action and active skills by NMC crew saved a young couple from drowning in Waki River, around 30 kilometres away from Nagpur on Nagpur-Saoner road on Thursday evening. It took more than two hours to rescue the couple who were stranded in the river due to sudden rise in the water level.

Parseoni police told that the couple were sitting near the heap of stones along the rive side. Suddenly there was rise in water level and the couple climbed the stones. Their screams for help alerted other visitors who immediately informed the guard. Soon Assistant Station officer Premraj Kawle, and Fireman Ashok Gowgave reached with the boat and skilfully rescued the couple by balancing the boat on the waves.

On being insisted by the couple, police haven’t revealed their identity
